Summary: The purpose of this dissertation is to analyze the symbols of belonging and hierarchy in a candomblé house of Angola nation, located in the city of Cariacica-ES, from clothing and food. In addition, it presents a brief description of the field of research, as well as the researcher's entry into it. It also consists of an analysis of the trajectory of the Candomblé de Angola nation in Brazil, addressing the arrival of Africans of Bantu origin and their later organization in Catholic brotherhoods according to the African kingdom of origin. Then, from data and ethnographic studies, presents a synthetic picture of houses and caretakers of Minkisi of the Angola nation candomblé in Greater Vitória-ES, as well as undertakes the description and analysis of memories and narratives of the spiritual life of the caretaker of the house studied. Also from ethnographic data, the interpretation of the metaphor of the boat, which refers to the recollection for the initiation and the departure of the snoring initiate, will occur. Finally, the dissertation will return to analyze hierarchical positions, religious functions and the ritual symbols of belonging to candomblé.
